It sounds to me like you want an iPad but don't want to want an iPad

Seriously the iPad is light years ahead of other tablets. Shame Apple seems to have some sort of stigma. It's a bit ironic that they get a bad name from some people for producing quality people want to buy.

And as I have said a million times before I am not a fan nor anti-fan of any brand. I own an iPhone, and Android handset, a Windows Phone 7.5 handset, Windows and OSX computers.
