I'd think normally that 3-4 years isn't that old for a pc, but I do find with modern usb

devices, and websites being more flashy with graphics/video/flash, that I can imagine older pcs will try their best to adapt and deliver those pages, but I can imagine over time at a cost

I see it regularly on a 2005 laptop where if fancy hd camera, and newest portable hdd's are plugged in, it almost sends the laptop into submission on start up

But then posts in find when you unplug them. I can imagine if the cpu usage is high all the time trying to handle new technology, that motherboards have more chance of giving in
