And, although I won't start to think all is well until we go over 40 points (I know, I know, but I am just a worrier!) it bodes well for the future.
But bloody hell, what a massive Summer is coming up, as big (again!) as any the club has ever had.
We've done exceptionally well this season. Next time around is the big one though, like that proverbial "difficult second album", the second season in the Prem is the bastard.
Unquestionably, from May, there will be strong interest and probable approaches for Lambert, ditto our players.
Goes with the territory now. We should welcome it-and not too worried-as long ago as QPR (h) McNally stood at our table and spoke of approaches for players etc and said "I'm quite looking forward to dealing with it" with the sort of look in his eye that said he's be dealing with it in the manner that means it will be a very short conversation indeed!
However, if someone comes along and one of our players is advised he can double his wages by moving to 'x', then we will have problems.
Its what we have always done of course-buy cheap, sell high-and, to be fair, its how we will, in the main, have to continue to operate for as long as the bottom line is the most important thing.
We may not NEED to sell as much as we used to though-so its down to Manager and players wanting to stay here, knowing they can progress with us.
So crucial, this Summer, to keep people at the club as it is to get some more in-indeed, each will contribute to the other.
Big steps and progressive thinking for all-a bit scary but exciting none the less. Bring it on!
