About 15 years ago, I went with a friend who is a Brighton fan

to the relegation out of the league decider at Hereford.

We were stood on a terrrace along one side among Hereford fans and all game we could see fights breaking out all round the stadium. Probably the most intimidating game I've ever been to.

When Brighton equalised (the point they needed to survive) I looked at my friend and he was utterly calm, deadpan expression, biting firmly in to his polystyrene cup.

Inside he was going absolutely f**king spastic.
