all I can say is LETS.DO.THESE.C**TS!
In all seriousness they are a very, very good side with some world class players so they are obviously favourites and anything we get from the game is a bonus.
That said, they are not the side they were 2 or 3 seasons ago and like most of the top teams this season look more vulnerable defensively than I can remember for some time. If we can get enough of the ball then we will cause them problems so the key for me is the midfield. We muist not stand off them and let them pass and when we have the ball we have to keep it and pass to feet. Ajax had 62% possession last night and United barely created anything. Against Chelsea they were on top until they sat back at which point United completely dominated possession and were able to claw their way back into the game.
It will be interesting to see what lambert does tactically but personally I would consider going back to the 4-2-3-1 for this one and playing a five man midfield with all of our best passers and retainers of possession in it namely, Fox, Bennett, Surman, Pilks and Hoolahan. Whilst there is no enforcer in there there is plenty of energy and I think they can give the likes of Giggs, Scholes and Carrick a hard time. Do that and, provided the 3 get forward to support Holty when needed, we can get at their fragile back 4 and keeper.
Thats what i would do anyway but no doubt Lambert will do something completely different.
