I went to Banjul about 10 years ago.

Got worst food poisoning I have had in my life. Both ends. Had to be taken to a hospital in The Gambia, worst experience of my life. I soiled myself and the only toilet they had in the hospital was a ceramic hole in the ground in a shed outside. No toilet paper or bidet. Bad times.

Apart from that it's nice enough. Most people don't venture outside of the hotels because as soon as you do you will get approached by the locals. They are really really friendly, but very clingy.

You'll get sick of drums and dancing after day 3 though. Do the Roots tour thing and see if you can arrange a visit to one of the schools. It's an amazing experience the kids are bonkers. Take lots of pens and paper, they love that s**t.

Went in December - it was hot hot hot.
