The bigger picture is irrelevant in my opinion

The ONLY possible justification for approaching that game as we did would be if we were embroiled in the relegation mix and therefore needed to rest players for some crucial games coming up. In those circumstances i might just have accepted throwing away our place in the cup.

We are not in that position. It doesn't really matter if we lose to man united next week as we will be exepcted to do. We will still be well clear of the relegation battle. The fact we have done well for the last two and a half seasons is fantastic and for that i am hugely grateful to lambert, mcnally and everyone at the club but it is irrelevant as to whether or not we are entitled to be disappointed about saturday.

I praised Lambert on here recently for his selfless attitude to the signings of Howson and Bennett but I think this weekend he put his priority (namely a good showing against Man U this week) ahead of that of (most of) the fans.
