F.A. Cup Football Competition T.V. Rights Money
As well as the prize money received for surviving each round the clubs in the competition receive money for their F.A. Cup matches which appear live on television. Again for many clubs, especially in the lower leagues, this extra revenue can be a real boost for a football club meaning the F.A. Cup is more than just a good, competitive competition but also a great source of income. The breakdown for T.V. money is as follows:
F.A. Cup Round - Live Match - Live Replay Match - Match Highlights
First Round Proper ? ?67,500 ? ?33,750 ? ?6,750
Second Round Proper ? ?72,000 ? ?36,000 ? ?6,750
Third Round Proper ? ?144,000 ? ?72,000 ? ?6,750
Fourth Round Proper ? ?144,000 ? ?72,000 ? ?6,750
Fifth Round Proper ? ?247,500 ? ?123,750 ? ?6,750
Sixth Round Proper ? ?247,500 ? ?123,750 ? ?6,750
As well as this the clubs competing in the F.A. Cup receive money for their matches appearing on live radio. For this clubs receive ?8,100 for a full 90 minute broadcast, ?4,050 for a half match broadcast and ?2,025 for just 24 minutes of the live match featuring on the radio. So in total for reaching the final and for appearing multiple times live on the radio and on T.V. a club could earn over ?2 million which is a decent amount for any club in the F.A. Cup.
