Techy Help - apple macs

Advice please wrathfolk...

Mein laptop ist kapput. I am therefore looking for a replacement computer for home. Now, I would love an imac, but dont want to shell out ?1200 on a computer.

I have just spotted imac minis for the first time ever and seen they are reasonably priced. Are mac minis any good?

Say instead of my laptop I am thinking of getting mac mini plus wireless keyboard and magic mouse. then use my tv (big ol' 50" usacanary stylee) as the monitor and instead of sitting in my lounge on a laptop I could use the big ol' tv as a computer effectively. is this idea any good?
