this might completely unrelated but might be the reason why

but I have freeview in my room on a normal stand alone aerial (which isn't great and only picks up so many channels)

But if I plug one of those signal splitters in and have two aerials going, the signal ball's up straight away

I wonder if having a shared aerial in flats does the same thing
