I take it back....Still having problems

I might be wrong, but the problem seems to have something to do with my external harddrive. Whilst it is plugged in, the internet works fine. As soon as I unplug it from the USB i lose my internet.

Is it possible I have installed something onto the harddrive that has changed settings, whereby my laptop needs access to the harddrive in order to access the internet?
