I think that's right. Blackburn apparently cancelled his contract on Tuesday

thing is, they did that because he had lined up a move to Spurs. So he wouldn't have need any pay-off from Blackburn, as he was being signed by Spurs.

So this was a free transfer between Blackburn and Spurs, to all intents and purposes. But they didn't manage to get the paperwork done in time.

Dodgy.
