I imagine that happens every time you sign a player - the selling club delays to make sure they don't get a higher offer.

If at that point you always immediately pull out, I don't suppose you'd sign many players.

The point about not pusuing another striker simultaneously is the more convincing one. But did Worthy tell him another player he wanted to sign?

Guess he might have done, but there's no evidence for it. If he didn't. then not much Doncaster could do other than try and get Cotterrill, surely?
