Heartbreak for the Canaries following a narrow semi-final defeat to eventual cup-winners Tottenham at Wembley. Spurs went on to beat Sunderland, 20 years after the Wearsider's last Cup final; following their surprisingly comfortable defeat of Chelsea in the other semi-final.
It looked like it might be the Canaries' year after they despatched Stevenage at Carrow Road in the Fifth Round before easing past Birmingham at St Andrews in the quarter-finals. However, despite matching Tottenham for long periods - and fully deserving their equaliser from Grant Holt following Gareth Bale's controversial opener - Jermaine Defoe struck the winner with seven minutes remaining to end the dream.
Those City fans who could bear to watch the final saw Sunderland take an early lead through Niklas Bendtner only for Bale (2) and Modric to wrap up an ultimately comfortable 3-1 victory.
