FAO: People In The Know-iPods!!

OK, I want to get one.

Any recommendations?

Also-*how* the hell do you download tracks from a PC, or whats the best site?

Do you download them to your hard drive and then onto a CD ROM or, iPod, for example?

Or can you download them straight onto a CD ROM/iPod?

Info, enlightenment, suggestions appreciated. Have kick ass PC & Broadband etc, so that isn't a problem, but my lack of knowledge is!
