The board have negotiated with a player and said we're willing to offer you 7k and the player wants 15k.

His agent knows he has got 2 weeks to find the player another club and a better deal.

If no such deal materialises you can see the player and the club agreeing like you said to maybe 10k now, with a double your money clause if we stay up.
