I live in the Brum area. Live in Coventry at the moment but go to the University of Warwick.
All three of Warwick, Stratford and Leamington are really really nice places. The quality of life is good, although I get the feeling that there isn't a great deal of big business there, not that much going on, I get the feeling quite a lot of people have made some money then moved there, (living in Leamington last year, it felt slightly inbred, lots and lots of rich men with fit wives and public school daughters, (gaz would love it) however, people born there grow up there, live their lives there and die there). Be warned however, Coventry football players live in and around Leamington, Keith O'Neill was a regular in the clubs there before I was at uni, and also Noel Whelan broke his toe hoofing a shop window at the top of the parade, (the main shopping street!).
House prices are probably quite expensive in the area, however, thats pretty standard in all nice area's these days!
Basically, I'd say good area to live, not overly lively but good transport links to places such as Brum or London, and what it lacks in liveliness it makes up for in terms of beauty and things such as restaurants and bars.
I doubt this is really of any help, but if you want any specific questions answered I should be able to help.
