I raved about Incendies the other day, if you haven't seen that, do, it's brilliant. Tree of Life is beautiful to look at. La Pianiste was good but a bit weird. If you didn't see Lebanon (2009) you could have a look at that.

I think I recall you saying you like a bit of killage in your movies: Red State is interesting, partly because the characters die in the wrong order. Red, White & Blue is a bit nasty.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - should've waited another 5 years before making this: the CGI is superb but the apes still don't quiiiiiite make it.

The Debt is a bit dull considering the subject matter. Troll Hunter is fabulous for a monster-pic. True Grit was great.

I've been dabbling in Japanese Weird lately. I could point you at a couple of these, but I doubt you'd be interested, as most people aren't.
