I think people are trying to read too much into Lamberts reaction.

He has said multiple times that its tricky to do business in Jan and that prices can be a bit silly.

He knows the club will do its best for him within the structure of our resources.

He fully understands that if we pay silly wages like Blackburn (65 M a year at the last count!) and Bolton (120M in the hole) for a club our size it will lead to massive
problems down the line.

If you cant have a top quality first 11 then the next best thing you can do is have decent squad depth.

I find it amazing how little squad depth teams like Newcastle have in defence.
