For me the only real importance is that

being a top half club not (currently) in the midst of the relegation battle gives us more clout in the transfer market. Players are much more likely to want to join us if it looks like we are likely to stay up. If we were struggling in the bottom three then many of the top championship players might not be attracted as they would think there is a strong chance they could end up back in the champ.

I therefore think its crucial that we take advantage of our current "pulling power" and hoover up 2 or 3 decent signings.
