My 'Canary Experience' day on Saturday

Truly one of my favorite days ever.

Flew over from the States on Friday, primarily to watch the match with my 76 yo dad. He had bought us the Canary Experience package for my birthday, and I would recommend it very highly if you want to treat a loved one to a really special day out.

Started with drinks in the Directors Lounge, hosted by Mark Barham (really nice guy). We then had a tour of the ground, including seeing the home dressing room. Then lunch in the Gunn club, and had a chance to meet Countess Delia of FCR. Watched the match in one of the glass boxes in the Barclay - loved the game start to finish, especially as we were sitting next to two Newcastle fans.

After the game, I got to meet the MoM, who was, of course, THE HORSE! Great guy, surprisingly soft handshake. Then got drunk in the Gunn club with some my dad and some mates, until we got thrown out, around 7:30.

Few observations/bit of information I gained during the day:

1. The ceiling in the glass boxes is too low, and I punched a small hole in it, celebrating the first goal. I also now have scares on 3 of my knuckles....

2. Delia is very friendly and will hug anybody at the drop of a hat

3. I was told that the club paid down a chunk of debts in October, and we now have just under 10m left to pay off. The goal is to give PL enough funds to make whatever additions he wants to make to the squad in jan, and then pay down even more of the debt in the spring.

4. The average wage of the first team is 10k/week. This will increase substantially, if we stay in the prem this season.

4. Apparently Sir Paul of Lambert most wants to a striker and back-up keeper in Jan. They don't want to break the wage structure so a loan striker is the preferred option.

All in all a great day out.

OTBC!
