Heard this yesterday and now read the article. Talks about it having an effect on his long term career. It sounds to me as though he is suffering from a condition called "sport heart" (at least that's the literal translation from the Dutch term). We've got a player who is only 20 years old and suffers from the same thing. Was very very scary to watch as he collapsed post game once.
But the condition is caused by over training and the heart muscle becoming too big / strong. It is normally "cured' by actually training less for a year or so to allow the heart to reduce to a normal size. I'm surprised they are talking about long term. OK, I think you have to have the genetic preposition to the condition but once you know you have it, it can be managed by changing your training regime.
