Trying to ignore what's below this post, I require some techie sales advice...

...I will be purchasing a new work station in the new year - preferably in a sale type situation. The primary functions of said work station will be:

1. To open, view and from time to time edit a/w
2. To record and edit programmes
3. To store large file sizes (mainly graphics/sound) as and when
4. Download and upload sound and graphic stuff
5. General office duties
6. Run iTunes from

I will also require a decent flat screen monitor too...

I want to be able to link this new station to my lappy as and when I want but have no idea about such things...

And here's the crunch: I don't want to spend more than ?700 inc VAT...
