If we're attacking-well, his abilities speak for themselves.
If we're defending then he's the outlet, he'll relieve pressure, keep the ball, play the pass, look for the unexpected and give the opposition reason to think and put a man on him.
As for him not defending, well, I probably should-but I don't-subscribe to the fact that every player should be prepared to hare back and carry out defensive duties. He's an offensive player and that is why he is, should be, in the team.
We've a keeper, a back four and a few DM's that can worry about keeping a clean sheet. Let Wes focus on doing damage the other end and find an effective role for him, and if it isn't the tip in the old 4-1-2-1-2, then how about 4-3-1-2?
I'll shut up now. But do feel strongly about this.
