Holy smoke, people need to calm down.

The fact the audience laughed suggests it was obviously a joke. (they laughed, so it worked even if YOU personally didnt find it funny)

This is just the classic over the top punisment exaggeration joke.

In the same way a person who has done a minor thing is compared to Hitler ( a man responsible for the murder of millions)

If anyone out there thinks he was serious, I think the police should come round your house and remove all sharp objects.....
