Wroth knowkedge: Microsoft Word

I have placed a jpg in Word but can't see it.

The image has the 6 markers indicating the image.

I can't select it or move it with the cursor.

The Format palette is visible but 'greyed out' so I can't bring the picture in front of the text.

I have set preferences to show drawings and picture placeholders.

It's doing my nut in - any ideas?

Strange, I just did it using an older office 2007 word and it worked fine.

Try inserting as an Object rather than an image
