I'd love the luxury of a day off on Wednesday.

..but it seems I have to take time off from running my struggling teeny tiny business to look after our little boy who can't go to school.

I've worked in the public sector in the past and I know it well. And I can't say I'm surprised there seems to be a fair amount of public support, since nearly 50% of the population works for the government.

To get a pension as generous as theirs, I'd need to pay in 30% of my salary for 30 years, something I'd struggle to do in the best of times, let alone now when we're fighting for every single penny.

So fine, strike on Thursday. It's your right. But I simply can't sympathise.
