I don't think anything's failed though

because the thermostat still works well and is pretty sensitive, it's just that the temperature range it gives me is far too high in summer.
In fact I'm not even sure it *is* actually a thermostat, but could be just a regulator for the gas flow. I imagined that you can set this internally
