Go straight to MW3.

I got a pre-owned copy of Black Ops cheap a few weeks ago thinking "MW3 is out soon, I'd better catch up with Black Ops", and while the single-player was quite fun, the multi-player didn't offer much that MW2 didn't.

One thing I would say is that in MW3 if you have "Prestiged "on multi-player MW2 or Black Ops you get tokens at the start of MW3 multi-player which you can trade-in for double XP. Apparently. That's what the boy at work told me when I asked him how he got to level 17 last night with only an hour and a half game time. It took me that long to get to level 4.
