It's fine to maintain shape if...

They want to keep a bank in front of the defence, but it didn't look like that too me. A lot of it was backing off and letting them get a sight at goal (which, if they had any brains, they'd have taken more shots at once it was clear Ruddy was having one). If the shape is a line of 4 then 5, like away at Old Trafford, then there's a point the attacker hits that line of 5 and they press them back or tackle. There wasn't enough of that, and too often blackburn were allowed to run with it or pass without pressure.
