Get yourself a Kindle, mate. It's the best bar none in e-reading.

Mainly because the screen isn't backlit - so you can read it in any kind of light.

Would also recommend you get one of these...

Runs off the Kindle battery, means you can use the Kindle in bed without waking anyone next to you.

I get about a month - 6 weeks off of one battery charge, and from the moment you press Buy on the Amazon site you can be reading that book in about 45 seconds.

Except for e-reading, iPad is all round better - if you have the money and the need for one...
