Have you read the following paper which is a basic outline od statisticall modeling football teams in regards to strength matchups in the betting markets.

There are a few thing missing from the paper too!

There are many major betting groups in the UK modelling games and winning a ton of money.
(because of inefficiencies in the football betting market)
