FAO Lister of Smeg: stupid petty criminals

A guy I knew vaguely from school got sent to Borstal for stealing frozen pies from a pub in Lincoln. If that wasn't a dumb enough crime, I bumped into him in a club just after he got out and asked him how it was - he said it was awful and he'd never go back inside; learnt his lesson, etc., etc. An hour later he came to ask my mates & me if I'd back up him & his mates as they were going to have a go at the bouncers ... We naturally declined and about half an hour had the pleasure of seeing him & a couple of mates being, er, subdued by 5 or 6 hefty bouncers. Fortunately (or, perhaps, unfortunately for them) the bouncers were happy to deal with the matter themselves and not involve the police.
