obvious why fifa have gone and done this

in the arsenal marseille match the arsenals had a shot cleared off of the line (almost) the 5th (?) official leant over the line so as he could have a clear view if the ball crossed the line or not. i reckon thats why they are there. whatever the f**k they are called, extra referees assistants assistants? I don't know. it might be on google. or in the rothmans football yearbook. or an encyclopaedia. have a rummage.
