Barton's Not The Football Messiah...

He's a...well, self-opinionated, ego-driven, and commercially canny operatror who has either noticed or been advised that there is a gap in the market for a...self opinionated and ego driven footballer...

Makes good headlines for him and whoever is acting on his behalf.

He comes across as some footballing and social guru, paid handsomly by his club to focus on that as a career rather than actually playing the game. Don't believe the act and the image for one minute.

QPR fell for it whilst other clubs avoided him. I wonder if QPR didn't sign him for the commercial interest that surrounds him, hoping he'd bring good PR to the club?

He's been mouthing off about Giggs today, and yes, Giggs has erred severley in his private life, but, compared with what he has achieved in the game, its a minor blip.

Barton has done nothing apart from his impressions of an intellectual-and I think neither Proust or Nietzsche felt the need to put out a cigar in one of their mates eyes...
