My point is vile/abusive chants have been around as long as I have been watching the game. Have they got worse or are we as a society just more touchy about things?

personally i have a pretty high threshold when it comes to these sorts of chants and it takes a lot for me to be offended by something. the only times i can recall being genuinely sickened by chants were when Man U fans and Scum fans on separate occasions sang chants about Gunn's daughter shortly after she had passed away and with him clearly in ear shot. That was a completely different kettle of fish.
