PL is rewarding those that have played well.
How would Morison feel if he had been dropped for Holty just to "have a run out at Old Trafford"? This wasn't a testimonial match, it was 3 points up for grabs, and, to the Manager and teams credit, they went out there and played for it.
Holt is a great pro, always has been. He is the polar opposite to someone like Tevez. He wouldn''t have expected to "get a run out" yesterday on sentiment, he would have wanted a game because he was thought of as one of the best XI.
He'll still play in big games and at big grounds this season-Anfield, Emirates, St James Park, Etihad, White Hart Lane-they're all up for grabs. But he'll also be up and motivated for the smaller teams and grounds as well, else a L2 side in the FA Cup. Because thats Holty, ultimate pro, same as his Manager.
Its like saying Tierney should have missed out so Drury could have had one last gallop around a big stadium in return for all the (considerable) years of service he has given.
We ooze professionalism at the moment, not least on the pitch and in the dug out. Don't knock it, love it whilst we still have it because Lamberts star will be shining ever more brightly....and Blackburn will be looking for a new Manager soon!
