All clubs try to "buy success"-thats what the transfer system is for-to get better players. What else could it possibly be in place for?
Better players=better team=greater chance of success.
All clubs do it according to their scale and relative economic ability to do so-look at Crawley Town in League 2, they're just as 'guilty', if thats the charge to be made, of looking to buy success as Man City are!
Ditto players-they go where the money is. Premier League or League 2, anywhere, everywhere, you work for the employer that gives you the best options, footballers are merely employees, same as everyone else.
Yet Man City are singled out-only they, it is perceived, are guilty of looking to 'buy success', and only they, again, seem to have playhers who are 'mercenaries'!
Methinks a lot of the media driven attacks against them are led by fans of the "establishment" clubs whose own agenda is not to have their cosy little top table disturbed.
For all of their vulgaroity therefore, I am delighted to see Man City rattling cages all over football!
