iTunes tech advice...

...I've imported a file as a WAV which I know what to covert to an mp3...

Apparently if I go to Preferences, I'm guessing in Edit, I can do this:

"drop them into iTunes, set your preferences for ripping at 128k mp3 and go to Advanced and create get mp3 version"

Problem is I can't see an option in Preferences in Edit to set it to 128k, let alone create an mp3 - can anyone advise where I am being a total Terry Fuckwit please?..
