rum boy comes from.....

the royal navy..... in olden days (and i believe till quite recently) each RN sailor was given a tot of rum every day as well as wages. Long months at sea could turn a man who hadnt seen a woman in months. The rums alcoholic effect broke down a few inhibitions and hence being a 'rum boy' was born....
