Schut Up Schteve
So Schteve McClaren apparently isn't happy that Nottingham Forest didn't buy anyone on deadline day and may leave the club in a fit of pique.
While Mediawatch isn't privy to the machinations at the City Ground and there are obvious gaps in their squad, we don't have a massive amount of sympathy for the old boy. Forest have signed five players this summer, all of whom have played in the Premier League, and four did so last season. Depending on which figures you believe, they've spent something like ?2-3million on transfer fees, and that's before you factor in the presumably not insubstantial wages of the likes of Jonathan Greening and Ishmael Miller.
If we were to talk to Schteve, we would point out that only two clubs in the Championship are spending any sort of money - Leicester, who are backed by gazillionaires, and West Ham, who are laws unto themselves and absolutely have to get promotion this season, or they're utterly, utterly f*cked.
Compare with other clubs operating below those two - Leeds sold last season's Player of the Year (Max Gradel) on deadline day and didn't replace him, Reading flogged Shane Long and replaced him with a League Two player (Adam Le Fondre), Birmingham have sold an entire team, Middlesbrough have brought in a grand total of two players...we could go on.
So, in short Schteve - pipe down and get on with it.
