(coming from an ex-RAF guy who knows a lot of "baggage handlers!") - - Avoid "hard cases" - they easily pop-open when the baggage handlers chuck them around...... go for a soft case!

Also, spending less than about ?40-50 is a false economy. I know this to my cost. You get what you pay for. I f you take say 2-4 flights a year and use the case for chucking in the back of a car for say 10 weekends a year, then pay about ?50-80 for something half decent.
