See, I don't get this at all

It's only alehouse football if all the stuff you and I watched when we were kids was also alehouse football, and we were happy enough with that at the time.

Couple of wingers belting up the line, big lad in the middle, lot of spirited dustmen trying to win the ball. OK I haven't been paying close attention to them for a few years 'cos they aren't fun to watch, but I don't think they're vile. I don't recall them employing a diving cheat like a few Wonderful Magical Clubs that fill the media.

Moronic fans? Everyone's got a few of those. We have! But Stoke's a rough old place.
