Hull match report

"The night belonged utterly and completely to Norwich keeper Kevin Keelan. To say his performance was superb is an understatement and the frustration the Tigers suffered was summed up by Ken Knighton in the dying seconds of the game.
A shot that looked destined to scream into the net was finger-tipped away by Keelan with just 1 1/2 minutes to go and Knighton sank to his knees, looked to the sky and then beat his fists into the Boothferry turf in despair. It was impossible to comprehend that Keelan had saved the shot but the truth was that he had - just as he had clung on to or pushed away two thunderbolts from Houghton and another from Knighton in the first half.
Even though Boothferry Patk fans knew that Keelan alone stood between City and a place in the fourth round it was impossible for them not to acknowledge a superb performance as the highlight of an exciting game.
Justice, quite clearly, was not done, but the agony of defeat must be a little easier to bear when it comes because of a performance the like of which will not be seen again for many a long day."
