Would you be defending him so much if he hadn't played in Spain?

If he were English would you be giving him the same support. He's only played 2 seasons at a decent level, and personally feel it's a big gamble for that position, as most keepers don't mature into the role before mid to late 20's.

He was left out of the World Cup team for example, so they have at least 3 better options.
