But your attitude is weird. You are assuming the police's lack of action is some kind of protest against cuts. On what grounds? What possible reason or evidence do you have for that?

Other than your baseline assumption, that they are generally likely to be too violent or aggressive. So when they aren't, you assume some ulterior motive.

That is my point.
