of course things have got worse - the country is up to its eyes in debt

there is no other way it could have gone, regardless of what party got in, regardless of what leader or version of that party it was that was in charge

i don't remember 1979 as i was only 1 year old - i know i had very many more shiny things in 1997 though, f**k knows if i'd have had more or less shiny things otherwise though, but i know the country certianly wasn't languishing in the dark ages at the time
