all parties were promising bigger cuts than under Thatcher

so yes the cuts would've happened, maybe not the exact same cuts but you cannot cut that large an amount without there being cuts in all areas

but this isn't about the cuts is it?

this is about a lack of trust and respect in the police and what they do and how they've behaved. From John Charles de Menezes to Hackgate and through to total abuse of the anti-terror laws intorduced after 9/11

it's about a lack of trust and respect in the politicians - bailing out their banker mates to lining their own pockets through expenses

it's about a love of shiny things in today's consumerist society

none of which have come about exclusively in the past year - none of which have been reversed in the past year, none of which would have been any different if the previous regime had been given another 5 years
