Why have someone who has watched it only ten years

when you could have someone who has

1) Watched the club a lot longer
2) Played for the club for longer
3) Made a significantly larger contribution to the club during his playing days
4) Has the club as its only club in his heart

Also if hes been watching for ten years, he clearly didnt do a lot of playing then?
