In December 2005, Flood's home in Wythenshawe was the subject of a burglary in which Flood himself was threatened and taunted at knife point for over 20-minutes by a 29-year-old man wearing a Manchester City shirt. The ordeal left Flood with recurring nightmares, resulting in him needing counselling and being unable to live alone.[
